Getting off topic, it grinds my gears that vtubers like Finana, and even some vtubing fans do not seem to understand the topic of parasocialism. Cambridge's dictionary defines the word as:
>involving or relating to a connection between a person and someone they do not know personally, for example a famous person or a character in a bookWhich is pretty vague, yeah, but some people always seem to assume it devolves into some Perfect Blue shit. But again resources like Wikipedia link to a bunch of other articles noting how these relationships can help form a sense of community, how these relationships can in some cases be vital to a Youtuber's success, how Twitch streamers are in some cases like the geisha of the digital age, ect. Yeah you can spin negative aspects of them, but there's plenty of positive aspects of parasocialism too. ZEA Cornelia of Nijisanji ID did a whole presentation on this subject too, just a shame that the stream along with all her other streams were taken down. It really was a good resource.
