Then when internet data became way more accessible and the governments gave away shitty laptops to pretty much everyone, then Rubius became big worldwide because back then he was the defacto spanish youtuber (not yet streamer) related to games, anime and homobaiting. Most others youtubers usually did everyday vlogs and what not.
Just a quick perspective from someone who was in the scene until ElRubius was "cancelled" because he didn't want to come to Mexico a second time because it became stupidly dangerous.
