Idols originally were meant to be trainees, you learn to dance, sing, act and stuff and build your own fame, then when you are an adult you "graduate" into a singer, dancer, actress etc.
Then Japan lost braincells and idols became too important and people wanted them to go forever, but problem is normal people do age and eventually you have to graduate.
Turn it into vtubing, where hags are a standard and the model is ageless, and graduation lost all meaning and it just means the same of ending that part of your carreer.
