The russians and the chinese use metric, the chinese made a fuck you big space station that might outlive any sort of replacement for the ISS. They use metric, and, unless economic fallout kills their efforts, they might be the second ones sending humans to the moon soon.
Both work, it's just that metric doesn't work for stuff that Americans usually do in their everyday life, and that's why I justify that they can keep their old system if they want, but the same way, they shouldn't ask everyone else to switch to theirs.
