The entirety of 2023 was full of bad individual moments that don't seem that bad at first sight, but kept on accumulating enough that Selen's situation was the one that broke the camel's back
You had the Zaion situation at the beginning of the year that, while it was still bad, they eventually managed to move on from it only for Nina to graduate, then Mysta, then everyone in the branch took turns traveling to Japan for god knows what reason and not streaming for weeks, even months. Then nothing was announced at NijiFes except for merch, with almost noone streaming either because they were having another meetup in Japan.
And if you thought 2024 was going to get better then they dropped Pomu's graduation, Selen's month long silence and Kyo's graduation (which almost got ignored by Selen's termination notice being such big news)
So yes, the cracks were showing up for a long, long time. Selen's termination just broke the dam.
