What is this corporate control that people talk about when it comes to Hololive? They say it's gotten worse recently but how exactly? Last time I checked they're still allowed to collab with Nijisanji and VShojo. Most of HoloJP is trapped in this "no male" bubble but it's the fault of the members themselves for deliberately cultivating that audience instead of making it clear that they want to collab with males from the start; meanwhile HoloEN has no such cultural expectation. The only example I can think of is the Nkodice thing, but that's just one game. I haven't watched Gura in over half a year and I'm curious what kind of heavy restrictions you guys are saying she's under that's supposedly making her depressed.

Correlation does not imply causation. One of the things that drew people to Hololive early on and got its popularity running was its fun atmosphere, how the vtubers were allegedly "idols" but acted nothing like idols and were free from idol restrictions. Recently the company has become more and more idol-like with all the ugly restrictions that come with the title. There are many people, including me, who were turned off by that and started watching Hololive less as a result, moving on to other agencies such as Nijisanji/Prism/Tsunderia and indies to get that same feel we used to get from Hololive. That does NOT mean the company is dying, they're more popular than ever and they'll keep on getting more popular with people who are new to them. But they've lost something that made them great, and that's a damn shame.

It's not gonna happen unless someone comes up with some streaming network and that would likely fail. There's too much money in the industry now for the companies to start fucking with it. Some years back Nintendo tried to start copyright striking western creators for using their games in streams and videos but even they eventually kneeled. When Nintendo won't push for something like that then you know we're trending towards streamers being supported and not the other direction. Now they're one of the most friendly companies to get permissions from.

They're not anal because management actually bothers to acquire those licenses/permissions. Selen was talking last week about how they have a list of games they have permissions to play, and that someone had asked for Starcraft 2 before (and got it) but no one asked for Starcraft 1, so she did. Then bam, they acquired it.

I mean you can look at their normal numbers and see for yourself. The reasons why the numbers are awful for this collab are because:
1) "We Were Here" games are not fun to watch. Both girls know their numbers were going to be shit playing this because there's precedent, but they did it anyways bc only numberfags here care about numbers.
2) Split POV of a game people already don't want to watch
3) Ina is streaming as well, overlapping them.
4) It started at 12pm PST/3pm EST on a weekday. Good time for Euros, but we already know the euro audience for vtubers is much smaller than NA.

Yeah cover's management is lazy and incompetent, it can take months to even a year just to get streaming permissions while Niji seems to have no problem getting them for just about any game they ask for. Even if the company has problems with monetizing their games, they just play the games without monetization anyways which is something Cover will never allow their streamers to do.

Managers don't have carte blanche to direct talents in whatever way they want, like which games they have to play, but are free to make suggestions. You don't understand the differences. In Niji they only advice you. In Hololive things are way different. For example Coco said in order to make a stream first you must submit the idea and it goes through several managers. If even one of them disagrees it means the stream will not happen. You can't just troll them like Selen did

What coco was trying to do was a whole new show as replacement of asacoco. Not a regular stream. None of the Nijiens have done something truly different for management to actually give them a soft stop to check things out. They just check permissions for their games but haven't done anything else beside that.

That's totally different from Selen ignoring her manager's advice to stream popular games to build a following. If the draconian managers of Covers exist like you say they do, then all Holos will have a minecraft quota they're forced to play to keep the server alive.

Not every holomember is best friends with each other, just friendly at least. It's not hard to be nice to someone in the same company. In Niji, you're not expected to ever interact with anyone outside of your clique and chances are, you'll never talk to 70% of the other livers unless you're one of the social ones that host collabs. In Holo, every member at least knows the name of the other members. I doubt most Niji livers can even name 30 livers.
