>>71665754>>71662410It's not so much that this gen has better chemistry than that gen, it's that the chemistry they have is different. It comes down to how socially well adjusted the members are, since each one was recruited in a different era, which informed what candidates Cover had and how the company approached it. I'll explain:
Myth was first, when the Covid boom was just starting. EN Vtubers were untested and the recruitment pool was smaller. The candidates were all more fringe personality types. Even if they were successful already, they were, in simple terms, just more likely to be weird people. That's why Myth chemistry is so awkward but they definitely try and there's an earnestness to their comradery when it does shine through.
Council came second. EN vtubers are now a proven idea and attractive pursuit for the success-oriented. This informed Cover's now-expanded recruitment pool. You have people who are more experienced, ambitious but also maybe cynical about vtubing as a career rather than a passion pursuit. Your group comradery is first and foremost a matter of being professional but I'd like to think that since then, some real genuine friendships have emerged.
Advent came third and most recently, after a noticeably long delay. Why was that? In that period of time, NijiEN was much more active in its debut cadence. What did that bring about? We see it with the recent string of yabs. For that era, I believe EN vtubing reached its crescendo of prospective applicants. The now-guaranteed floor of success for the Big Two Corpos meant you have an excess of grifters, lazy streamers and cynical content creators who wanted an easy mealticket without having respect for the craft. Cover, in contrast, recognized the low quality field of applicants and took more time to filter out diamonds from the sea of mediocrity and sometimes even outright antipathy towards the established culture. And this is why EN3 has such impressive comradery, because they are impressive overall by virtue of going through such a strict selection.
On a side note, I think for the most recent era, the EN3 delay wasn't just due to filtering out so many more low-quality candidates. It also had to do with the discontent regarding management and EN direction that seemed to be going on behind the scenes during 2022 to early 2023, as alluded to by some of the girls. By all accounts from those same girls, those issues have been solved and the timing gels with the Advent debut dates.
That's my take. TLDR: Myth's group rapport is awkward but earnest. Council's group rapport was a designed product at the start. Advent's group rapport is a reflection of Cover going in the opposite direction of AnyColor, during a time when the EN candidate pool was at its worst.
