She reminds me a lot of the James Gunn situation, where getting fired turned out to be the best thing to happen to his career. Everyone rallied in support of a person who had been blatantly unjustly fired, the company that fired him took a huge blow to its reputation, and good things have just kept happening to him nonstop since then. The only thing that's missing is Disney coming crawling back to Doki and begging her to make the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It's been well over a month and her CCVs are still incredible, consistently blowing away Holo, Niji, and Phase with ease. People thought this support was going to fade but it's clear these people are here to stay. I suspect she's gained a lot of new fans who don't really watch any other vtubers, perhaps even some who have never watched vtubers before, but supported her when they found out what happened and have stuck around after they realized how great she is. It helps that it's a lot easier to keep up with a single indie who's just doing her own thing, versus a corporation where you can try to watch just one person but you always feel like you're missing out because they're just one piece of a larger tapestry.
