It's more that she got popular as one of the big EN vtubers and then doubled down on being ID and doing more ID only streams for a while. Also stopped doing boomer shooters or having her dad on, which got her popular in the first place, and just in general didn't play into memes.
That said, knowing her that was probably intentional because big numbers scary, and she stopped when HoloEN took the attention (and some of her her clippers) away.
Now she gets numbers that are less intimidating and at worst has to tell people "Don't call me NijiEN Gen 0" while working with people she likes. She's better off as she is, if you can see things other than "bigger number is more better".
