And no, I'm not gonna talk about their lack of competition and I assume Niji escapes from their streak of Ls. Even if Niji somehow gets their reputation back pre-Zaion, they or VShojo or other agencies and indies will be no match against Hololive in the next 5 years or so. And the reason is simple: Hololive has big dreams and big goals What do Hololive, Niji, VShojo and others have in common ? Promise to treat members respectfully and correctly and spread VTubing culture in their own way. If they are popular enough, they can begin to sell merch and voice packs, then participate in a convention or create their own, and finally a big special concert to show off their brand and hardwork. And as their brand grow larger, more debuts will happen and cycle repeats. But does this cycle repeat indefinitely ? As time passes, more and more people jump into VTubing niche. Even large corpos also debut their own VTubers. And soon, the market is suddenly crowded with supply more than demand. The ones who are already big will continue to be big as long as streaming culture still exists while the no-names will either continue to farm 2-digit CCV or graduate. At the end of the day, the current small market that filled with VTuber fans can only help to an extent, and it becomes saturated So what did Niji and VShojo and other do to encounter this ? Well not much exactly. They still continue as usual, just keep debuting members, just keep playing trendy games and chatting, just keep doing convention, if enough profit, they can host their own concert, and overall don't fuck their members up. Sure it worked very well during Covid, but now that life of touching grass begins, suddenly they no longer have the fame cheat code. Newer members getting less and less recognized, and Niji's newest gens are complete flops. Those are the signs that the cycle will one day stop repeating and they are fighting on a constant size of platform But this is when Hololive comes in. Hololive still does like everyone else does, but the difference is that they have long-term goals, goals that are beyond VTuber scope. They go into the normie territory to spread VTubing culture. They collabed with normie brands more, they promoted their fan-games to the outside game world, they signed with Universal Music, they opened Hololive City, and they made their own game and platform. If others create supply for a shrinking demand, Hololive create more demand for their future supply. They are getting more Holofans and VTuber fans from normies who didn't even know what VTubing is And that's why I think Hololive is the main player in the VTubing industry who actually take "spreading VTuber culture" seriously. They boldly reach outside of the VTubing bubble and take risk that normies may or may not give them and VTubing a chance. If Yagoo succeeds in his goals, the VTubing market will be much bigger than today and we all can thank Hololive for keeping this industry alive against other normie media

Vtubing is a niche within a niche dominated by otakus, and Cover is an otaku company. Every single "normie" collab like the recent Mr Donut one is basically businesses taking advantage of the flood of rabid internet pilgrims while the actual normalfag customers look away in disgust.
Hololive "spreading Vtuber culture" just sounds outlandish when its otaku content is the very reason that bubble exists. It's doubly ironic when people keep using Holo-dominance within Akihabara or Comiket as a gauge of mainstreamness when those are literally Cover's home turf.
I will say Cover is trying hard to appeal to JP normies lately with holoearth and DEV_IS and such, but to what end? Flopping at every attempt while alienating your core hard-spending otaku crowd?
I haven't even started on EN, where they're not even trying to win over a broader audience there. Ironmouse coasting along with some bigname figure would unironically have a better chance at that.

>>72305814 Yeah the lack of more english original songs is what really makes me question whether they really want to grow more audience outside japan or make the holoen pander to jp side since the algorithm really doesn't recommend streams that much and for new normies interested if they search the word vtubers hololive won't show that much. The more indies and western vtubers grow the more they lose potential new audience much like how they wasted the vtuber boom on en side for two years trying to be like nijisanji.

>>72300926 There's no future proof in this industry.
AI companions will destroy it in a few years and I doubt Hololive or Vshojo will be the one to push for that, if anything Anycolor who do not care about their organs will invest in that future and you can buy your own AI Pomu / Rosemi / Nina etc. to play games with or give you company.

Vtubing may be a niche within the otaku community, but the anime industry and culture is mainstream. So a niche within a niche is an exaggeration on your part. Moreover, the tubing industry is a fast growing industry and you must be living under a rock if you don't see that.

>>72308804 You are a fucking idiot if you think that. There is no one that rejects AI more than the anime and gaming community - vtubers are part of both. I don't deny that there may be a couple of incel jerk offs who would waste their time and life with some AI GF, but that thing will never replace people and entertainment for the vast majority of people.

Hololive has competition. Yes, Niji is falling behind because they are not long term focused. But Brave Group is growing in Japan, and is doing the same things Cover is doing - large investments, global expansion, creating a Metaverse, etc. The market will look very different in 5 years. Hololive will be huge, but not alone.

Competent leadership, good business practices, having diversity of business operations not reliant on one income source and can deal with changing media climate such as their technology development operations, and others are legit reasons.
That on top of massive goodwill gives them an immense edge. For Phase and Vshojo to compete against Yagoo they will need to do more than just the entertainment angle. I would rather recommend they do what they are doing and not worry why they cant be at Hololive's level and do what they are good at. In time they can try to diversify their operations. Niji however is done. It's too full of detrimental personnel that operate like the woke Kathleen Kennedy, Leslie Headland, Alex Kurtsman, Amy Pascal crowd that are antagonistic to other talents in their own industry, unethical, and reliability full of drama.
