In her emotional moment, she told Nina that she did matter and that she never needed Niji. That was it. That's the big "backstab." the "throwing under the bus." It's something Nina herself has said, but not to such detail. It's definitely a betrayal of confidence, but pretending she was doing it for clout is just disingenuous.
Matara ghosted her after that comment came out, and Sayu's been sad about it ever since. She knows she fucked up, and she's not expecting Matara to forgive her at this point, doing her best to apologize as she can, but obviously it's not going to mend their friendship.
