I used to make fun of "Long COVID" as just attention whoring and sympathy grifting, until my best friend had a bad case of COVID and issues after. I'm sure a lot of people ARE just grifting, the ones talking about it publicly and begging for money, but my best friend had seriously reduced lung capacity for 5 or 6 months. He couldn't walk more than two blocks at a brisk pace before getting short of breath. He was otherwise healthy before, and it was fucking weird to see how long that lingering lung issue lasted.
