As an example, Lord Aethelstan spent years of his life working as a personal trainer. So when he had the idea to do a stream teaching some basic home stretches and simple workouts, he had the opportunity to use his 3D avatar with a Mocopi sponsor.
But if you've ever seen Mocopi in action, his decision to use both his avatar and his webcam becomes extremely obvious.
And then for a recent stream where he showed off new, more advanced workouts with some cheap equipment, he ditched the avatar outright and just focused on giving a good lesson.
There's also OniGiri, who does cooking content. And even at her most virtual, she still needs her IRL hands visible (with gloves).
To say nothing of travel/outdoors content.
Some people want the expressiveness and creativity of vtubing while also having passions for content that vtubing is not conducive to.
