Roaches will make this disgusting suit-case shaped growth called a "brood sac" that they hang off/attach to their butt. The brood sac has individuals columns/grooves arranged like a pack of cigarettes that cradle the Roaches' young. A brood sac can contain between 10-20 babies at a time. Because the sac is directly attached to the abdomen the the babies can nurse directly from their mother and never have to leave the safety of the sac: going through their entire juvenile stages of development; egg, larvae, pupate, and then finally emerging as small adults.
