Even in the original Avengers, there's stuff like Black Widow recruiting the Hulk, the fight in the forest, and the argument on the helicarrier that were treated seriously. Hell, Age of Ultron had the entire farm scene. His writing style focused more on quips and de-escalating serious situations with shitty jokes, sure, but he doesn't make ironic jokes about how it's embarrassing to enjoy the cringier parts of the stuff he's making
