It's harder insomuch that Soulslike "vets" will go into the game with preconceived notions developed from their time playing other games. They play the game thinking it'll follow the same formula only to get ASSFUCKED by multiple walls meant to PROLAPSE you for sticking to one playstyle. It's a game that gives you multiple ways to progress through enemies and then expects you to use almost all of them, making the game balanced around those different mechanics.
The "Soulslike" vet then arrives and believes the standard "scaling good", "consumables bad", "elemental weaknesses pointless", "rolling good" game which ends up GAPING them in the long run. See
>>73280679's post about the parry system being "counterintuitive" or how enemies are "damage sponges" unless you bother to use the mechanics the game provides you.
It's literally only hard if you make it hard on yourself. It's unironically one of the most fair Soulslike games out there but because you can't just overlevel to make up your lack of skill, it becomes "difficult".
