>>73901126>Why open an English market if you're going to stream for China? When NijiEN first started, it wasn't ever meant to appeal to any one country like China. It was just meant to be an expansion of the Nijisanji branch but for a more English (North American/European) viewerbase. Ethyria did try to push it by attracting more ESL fans (Flips for Millie, Russians for Nina, ect) but it wasn't until Luxiem that things really went off the end. It became full on Chinese pandering fullstop, to the point where Mysta made the Bilibili logo in their NijiEN server IIRC. If you're wondering where that fanbase came from, it came in around the time of Luxiem/Noctyx and it never really left.
>What's the point of mixed waves if you gachis hate homos and sisters don't care about niji girls? The branch early on was basically Hololite. There was an expectation that guys and girls would collab early on, but the KR/ID male collabs were very inoffensive with dudes like Bobon and Suha, they never pushed shipping bait or anything of the sort, it just felt like friends and coworkers hanging out and nothing more than that. It felt like males and females would be able to peacefully coexist and collab without either audience getting mad. It wasn't until Luxiem/Noctyx/Iluna came into the picture that the atmosphere gradually changed very hard, the content slowly became trashier for some talents, and the fanbase became more full of shipfags.
I am sort of talking out my ass since I stopped paying attention to NijiEN around early 2023, but it really felt like there was a subtle shift in male and female interactions over time. Maybe it changed and its now back to the relaxed atmosphere it was early on, but how it was handled in 2022-2023 really became offputting. That's where you felt too much like an awkward third-wheel.
