>>7411976>>7413648This, to a degree. For many people, "vtuber" and "Hololive" were synonymous, the newfag masses who came in during last years wave of Holo dominance, and they are (if they stick around with the hobby at all) slowly discovering over time that no, other options are also available. Especially for EOPs, as Cover has (for too long?) stuck by their decision to only have 5 EN talents for over a year, instead of saturating more sooner, there's going to be dead hours and people start to look around.
And for all the selfcongratulating that Holofags do, about their amazing scouting department and that being in Hololive means you are the pinnacle of quality or whatever (after all they are the most popular, and we all know that popularity means quality, right?), if you look around (with less preconceived notions, brand goggles, and existing "oshi" bias), you'll find many other girls that can cater to your tastes, sometimes even better. If you like singers, there's great ones out there, or if you like gameplay-focused girls, there's better players out there. If you like "comfy" tubers, they're out there, same as with "dorky", "bratty" or "slutty" tubers (I know 4chan has issues with those, but you can't deny there's a market for them, just because you're not part of it). And since they're mostly smaller, you also get the benefit of more "immediacy/intimacy", if you're a parasocialfag, or more "authenticity" (well as authentic as you can be, playing an anime character) in the sense of less annoying corporate bullshit.
Of course, that's not to say that every HoloEN watcher will switch to someone else, no many people will stick around, but HoloEN has stood still for too long that more people are diversifying.
Of the people who the HoloEN wave brought in, I'd group them into 3 groups:
>ride or die: These people will stick around and continue to watch HoloEN only exclusively, either by ignorance (they don't know what else is out there) or by choice (they think HoloEN is the "best", or are parasocially ensnared by their "oshi")>casual FOTM trendchasers: they aren't that much invested in the medium itself, and after the "haha animegirl livestreaming funni" novelty has worn off, they'll move on to the next unrelated fad.>vtuber enjoyers that transcend Hololive: they are able to look beyond the bubble (hah, Mori...) and are fans of more than just Hololive and have looked for and found more girls that they enjoy. Doesn't mean they've completely stopped watching Hololive, but it's not the only game in town for them anymore.Of course it's hard/impossible to quantify how large each of these groups are, but over time everyone more or less finds themselves in one of these, whether you continue to only watch Holos, drop out completely, or mix and match.
