>>80575I get the feeling that Jeff Liu became a vtuber for a bit as Killer Bean mostly to use as an excuse to testbed several things before the ONA, particularly what I think is probably a new animation workflow for him as it relates to motion tracking.
Webm related is Jeff Liu overdubbing voice actor lines using his KBF-era facetracking workflow. There were two components, the head tracking, and the lip syncing, and it was obviously very primitive considering that he was using tracking points scribbled onto paper and taped to his lips and face. It's why I consider Killer Bean to be a proto-vtuber even if it weren't for the fact that he did a lets play series because the fundamentals of what jeff was doing carry over into modern solutions for vtuber face tracking.
If you look at the new ONA head and face animations they look off, a lot different from the feature film and a bit rough. I believe Jeff in the intervening period developed a new way to animate faces and heads without so much of the post-capture adjustment, and obviously a lets play is the perfect testbed for this. I think Jeff also needed to practice being Killer Bean himself since the original voice actor is obviously not around anymore; you can tell that jeff's impression of KB is incredibly rough in the lets play because previously he had only portrayed Jet Bean.
