>>74300293Holding the play buttons and mounting it on their office wall has been a common practice for them since Niji JP. Backpedaling on this now, of all times, could lead to several interpretations.
1. Holding the play buttons was never as important as people believed it to be. If that was the case, why hold onto it for all this time anyway?
2. Pushback on it was never this widespread until the Selen termination and the antagonization of the Western fanbases. Going back on it now would give the impression the feedback of the Western audience is more important than the opinions of the JP audience.
3. Most important imo: JP livers have mentioned this in the past. If they backpedal for EN, it needs to be something they do for 200+ JP livers as well otherwise they'll have a problem on their hands. Imagine giving Niji EN a play button but not someone like Kuzuha or Mito.
4. And related to the third bullet, we circle back to a related point. If they do it now, it will make people begin to question why it was ever necessary to do so in the first place.
They need to save face, and that means taking a stand on a stance even if it's wrong. If you've played Ghost of Tsushima, think of it like JIn's uncle. He continuously pushed his way of doing things because he believed he was right, blind to how self-destructive and harmful it was to others.
It doesn't matter if Anycolor knows the practice is wrong at this point. They haven't budged on it for this long, why change now?
