Then in the second half of the show they threw all the mystery away, the plot became a mess, and the ending was essentially reduced to "The island was the friends we made along the way".
If you only cared about the characters it's a fine ending, but the island, its contraptions and mysteries are almost irrelevant to the plot half way through the series. When the show stopped being about the island it
lost me.
