The VTubers = Nation theory
> Q. What is a nation?
A large body of people united by common history or culture.
Not unlike the modern VTuber landscape where a territory is an individual chuuba, and a nation is a corpo aka unified nation of territories.
> Hololive
- Strong nation that started poor but grew over time, united by common "idol" culture that's loosely followed by most of the talents.
- Annual National Festival (Holofes) celebrating the Nation (Hololive) and it's culture (V-idol talents), only growing over time.
- Economically prosperous.
- Cycle of investment into economically productive activities by individual territories (promoted and sometimes partially funded by the govt) feeds into overall economic growth.
- Two VERY tightly linked overseas colonies, same respect given to both during National festival, very strong cultural integration due to frequent trade between the two and the homeland.
- National enemies continuously attempt divide-and-rule tactics between individual territories and colonies, along with attacking the core value of the Nation (idol culture) and attempting to disrupt trade and expansion into the wider world by maligning the native population ("incels", "unicorns" etc.). Invisible soldiers continue to defend the border with fervor.
It's no coincidence that these types use the exact same toolkit as the ones that want to destroy irl nations
- Has a marginalized tribe under it's protection that used to be tolerated by the larger populace, but started being actively suppressed socially after enemies of the Nation migrated in their territory and tried to use them as a cudgel in their divide-and-rule tactics.
> Nijisanji
- Prehistoric nation from old world, had a wide-reaching but fragile empire which is now starting to show cracks and losing their initial economic dominance.
- No united culture other than the brand and the symbol.
- That is enough for a small group of zealots (whose culture is more about hating the stronger nation than building their own) but not enough to inspire passion in the common populace.
- Used to have an "anything goes" type of culture which has slowly been phased out due to central mandate in order to bolster trade, some resentment still remains due to this.
- Centralized subjugation-based high tax economy that enriches government but leaves little for the subjects, causing economy to be in recession.
- Lack of incentive to do economically productive activities, formerly productive territories faced with abuse, eventually declaring independence or joining the VShojo confed.
- Company festival was more of a show of unity than anything cultural, and even that stopped showcasing their wide-ranging small and medium cultures, causing even more dissent to slowly simmer.
- Slowly losing major and minor territories over time, even a few economically and culturally important ones.
- Had multiple overseas colonies, almost all have collapsed over time.
- Strongest colony recently imploded in spectacular fashion, exposing friction across the leadership and causing a national embarrassment, but it's still barely hanging on.
- Large group of overseas territories defected to the VShojo confed.
- History of belittling, harassing and strong-arming neighbors by both territorial leaders and citizens, which has sparked enmity between many nations.
- After Hololive overtook them economically and politically, they have been called out many times over this behavior but they've never acknowledged most of these incidents.
> VShojo
- Confederation of city-states, ruled by Ironmouse.
- Loosely associated, mostly doing their own thing, with occasional trade and poking at the bigger powers.
- No overall cultural unity, fragmented populace, but generally cordial with each other.
- Attempting to copy other Nations' cultural identities to build unity, but lack of strong roots means nothing really sticks.
- Attempted an overseas colony, but never expanded beyond the two highly lucrative former-hololive ports they acquired (one of which declared independence, and the other became stagnant).
- Has grabbed several former overseas Niji territories.
- Economically sound individually, but culturally and politically stagnant.
> Shigure Ui
- Strong, independant and economically stable nation.
- Strong ties to Hololive culturally (almost as if part of it) but keeps cordial relations with Nijisanji as well.
Ignorance of minor and politically/culturally irrelevant nations is understandable and even expected ("What's Angola?"), but ignorance of major nations is a failure in education ("USA? Who?").
