>>74477582>i’m not sure why people are so insistent on turning the japanese idol corpo into the same shit they can get anywhere else.there are some people trying to do that, yeah, but you might find that there’s a large number that are simply tired of seeing sparks fly around moments like this even when a lot of them are pretty trivial
problems arise when things escalate when they really don’t need to
people take statements like “I think it’d be neat if x and y collaborated some day”(usually posted in a place where x and y will never see it) and interpret them as “x and y should be forced to collaborate even if they don’t want to”
people take statements like “I’m not really interested in male vtubers” as “male vtubers are fundamentally evil and anyone who even acknowledges them should be terminated”(yeah, yeah, I know what you want to say, nobody cares)
and this happens because, well, these are things some people have said before
so frequently, somebody jumps in and starts ranting about their worst-faith interpretation of the statement and how the other person is horrible scum for saying it
this ends up just annoying the shit out of the person who made the statement in the first place and makes them likely to be more hostile about the subject in the future
and then that hostility causes that person to interpret someone else’s mundane statement in the worst possible way, and the cycle continues
the only way for things to move in a more civil direction is if there is a concentrated effort to de-escalate arguments and to not assume the worst, even when it seems like the other party is attempting to escalate it in the first place
because often, the one who looks like an aggressor is just sick of having encountered so many aggressors in the past
