The trajectory of a vtuber is highly dependent on certain passionate fans who promote them. Call this group of fans "megaphones", who are usually unicorns. If a vtuber loses their megaphones their numbers start to drop over time. That's really what happened to people like Mori, Ame, and Enna. They started declining severely over time, it wasn't an immediate drop.
It's a case where the loud passionate minority rules over the majority. You can piss on a normie and they don't care, but the real audience that matters are the ones /here/
