Not bad but most girls with enough power to pull 33M views would make that in superchat in the same month without the expense of hiring a fuil time editor (which would eat from the proceeds, making the whole exercise pointless).
Sushi may (or may not, I don't know if he monetizes) be making money but given the hourly rate for a translator and for an editor he would be paying to work, or at best offsetting his expense.

Another thing to point out is the fact that Holo channel had 16 uploads/streams for the month of July compared to the 47 of Niji. Many Niji vids don't go over above 100k views but they do pile up. Base performance for HoloVids are 200k+. Only ones that would hit 1M are HoloGra of course that they only do once a week.

This is what I expected most holos would produce as an original music that cannot sing well. A Simple song that has little frills that highlights their voice since that is what most people are attached to anyways but we get every version of Ahoy in different flavors. I liked it a lot. It depends. If they used inhouse staff it costed "only" their time, as their cost is already sunk in the monthly cost.
I put only in quotes because that's exactly what makes Japan to have such a shitty workplace ethics, people are expected to do their own jobs and then overtime doing what would be other people jobs.

Now, if they would hire a full time english translator in japan it would set them back north of 70k/year (assuming Japan is like every other civilized country where the state taxes the employer more money the employee takes home).
That would cover only translating a transcript provided by the editor. Someone would still have to watch through all of the talent videos of that period, select the best parts, edit and transcribe.
A person doing that full time would not be less expensive than the translator so add another 70k to the expense.

All in all that would mean an expense of 140k dollars/year on staff alone, not counting the "materials" (in this case hardware, software licenses), for one pair of people.

That would mean that ad revenue on the translated videos would have to be around 11k / month to break even.
Cover and Anycolor would both benefit massively from having every stream VOD translated, and from creating their own clips for most talents.

The thing is

That last point is important because what the fans know about their oshis (both the person and the body of work, the inside jokes and the memes) are sometimes more than even the current manager assigned to them.

Anyway, about numbers, I assume at very least 11k dollars per month on ads to break even on hiring one editor and one translator, meaning having to get at very min (assuming 0.5CPM and perfect ad watching by the audience) 22M views per month, every month

I know they have an in-house translator. The dude's style of translating stuff is always hilarious to me. Then again they do have bi-lingual managers that may or may not be doing the translations for them. Marine and Suisei commented that the EN managers are very fluent in JP. Manager positions in JP are notorious of being a jack of all trades sort of profession. The Vods for July on their official channel was 25,806,391 so they are certainly getting their money's worth if it was only 1 translator (which is likely). I do know they also do translation on other things like the Bloom DVD, the HoloProject Radio show and Polka's Legend of Polka

You know they have someone in house that translated 4 hours of videos in the past three weeks of their channel, with the one bringing the bulk of the views (Hologra) being a 3 minutes scripted short that the writers can have the lines translated simultaneously when writing them.
it doesn't mean they have a translator for that, knowing Japanese workplace culture they likely got A-Chan or even one of the EN managers to do it from home (or worse, in office) as unpaid overtime, mostly because yes, it is fun and a way to get your creative output appreciated when your job is a menial one.

Even with the 25M views per month they would barely break even if they hired a dedicated pair of clipper and translator.

They would be better off hiring a SEO expert and fix the shitty tags and descriptions the talent use in their videos. That alone would net them more money for less effort than making what the community already provides fo free

Like most of the 3D lives we got recently, it depends on who the guests are and how many she's bringing in. Towa solo is probably 40k, but with guests, we could see 50-60k.

Songs are a massive channel buff, both because YT LOVES songs, and it grabs people to watch that usually don't have the time to watch streams or don't usually watch streams for a particular chubba.
The effect is amplified when you have an active sub base. Violet is already at 134k views, a very good amount after only a little over an hour. Gonna hit a million very fast.

Since no one mentioned it in the previous thread, Ibrahim got 51k because he was hosting a Niji soccer tournament I think? It was the draft stream so it was short too. Not nearly as big as Koshien, but still a nice buffed number.

The previous soccer tournament was a small Fifa tournament by Peanuts-kun where one person controlled the entire team and iirc Naru won that one.

This is a PES tournament with 3 teams in a round robin, with each of the 33 players being controlled by a Niji liver.

There's a couple of reasons to pre-record it.
1) Covid is bad in Japan right now, so it's not a good idea to have a lot of people in the studio

2) A lot of holomems are very busy with commitments from sponsors, practice, lessons, recordings, streams...etc. If you have a 3D live with 13 guests like Marine, it'll be almost impossible for all 13 holomems to all be free on the same day to show up and record a 5 min performance.

3) July and August were packed months in terms of events. With so many birthdays, subscriber milestones, and anniversaries, everyone wants to do 3D lives and the studio is apparently booked all the way till Oct 2021.

A bit of a personal opinion, but I don't really notice much difference between a live and pre-recorded 3D live in terms of enjoyment. You miss out on some post-performance banter between the girls, but in return, you get better effects, way more guests than normal, and less technical issues (unless the file literally corrupts like Marine's bday live). The girls are still singing live and they don't talk to chat when doing 3D lives anyways.

If you're talking about Levi's 3D debut, she had 2 live guests (Yumeoi and Kuzuha), and 4 people as her band. Around 1/3 of her debut was a pre-recorded zombie skit segment tho.

I think covid is a factor, but scheduling is probably a bigger reason. If Marine wants Korone or Aqua for her bday live, but they aren't available for that day, then just pre-record it.

I think there's still a certain charm to having it live. It's why the First Take youtube channel is a thing. It might not be the one perfect rendition but the feeling of someone's performance when it's live or only one take is hard to recreate. It really gets me hyped up.

As far as reacting to the poll goes. Did you see the results to the poll? The result was overwhelming. They did this because the result was easily predictable so they could pre-record the reaction. Its similar to when the Hololive members reacted to Holofes trending #1 worldwide on twitter in "real time". It was obvious that that was going to happen so it was easy to record a "live" reaction.

No 3D concert/performance is live. They are all pre-recorded.

You are not the only one noticing this anon. I have been skeptical of youtube live viewers numbers for a while. Just take for example, aqua's karaoke yesterday hardcapped at 15k when she normally gets 18k to 20k. I paid attention to her live numbers for a while and everytime it looked like it was going to break 16k, it dropped down a bit. Something like 15900 > 15700 and 15800 > 15500 kept on looping at intervals.

Ya having a chat or some on-screen gimmick when SCs flow in are pretty easy ways to prove something is live.

Niji and Holo (pre-2021) 3Ds have always been a mix of live segments and pre-recorded segments, it's pretty standard. Like Fuwa didn't run offstage to do his Gantz skit and fight Kagami in a robot suit live lol. Ibrahim also was not playing Pachinko live for 45 mins. But their singing segments were most likely live. Hololive used to do the same where they cut to some pre-recorded skits and then transitions towards live performance segments.

The Nijisanji fanbase is casual as fuck. They are literally normie entertainment in Japan. Normies aren't going to watch daily streams and they are only going to tune in for big events or when something special is going on. That is why Niji's numbers aren't great for daily streams but they do really well when they are doing some kind of big event.

Hololive gets big numbers even on daily streams because they get the otaku fanbase in Japan who is a lot more hardcore and more likely to consume the content on a daily basis.

Well, they're not wrong about that. Gens 0-2 are kind of wild (only Ayame and Shion really), but starting from gen 3 onwards, I can't see anyone just streaming a handful of times a month for no good reason and not being "part of the team". There's like unspoken commitments for being a Holomember, and in return, you get a larger fanbase before you debut than 99% of vtubers. It's definitely not for everyone.

You overestimate Japanese's tendency to subscribe a YT channel. It took one good collab with the top japan youtuber, an apex collab with him, a chronoir anniversary, apex tourneys, a baseball buff and AR concert to get a 10k lead on Botan. It is only after the collab with hikakin, that he managed to pass Botan. If the Japanese banded together, he could've gotten 1M much more easier. Now, let's say fast forward a month or so, the rate people would subscribe to him would be slower and there's still a huge gap between him and 1M. It took 3 years for him to get where is and it took 1 year for Botan to get to where she is. My brain is telling me that logically botan could reach that but it still depends if there's gonna be surprises from Kuzuha in the next month. Anyway, It'll be a clutch race to the finish line.

It would not surprise me if it got 50k+. Kuzuha is unique in that he is plays so much Apex/FPS that whenever he does something different, it has massive numbers potential. Of course it's not every game, Pokemon Unite and SFV did nothing for him, but his first time playing RE8 got 50k and his Koshien streams are still around 50k when his peers have dropped to 20-30k. Not to mention, the dude gets great MV numbers and a lot of his subs are probably from his covers. That crowd might not tune in to his Apex streams, but they'll show up for an extremely rare Kuzuha karaoke stream. I think he's very selective in when he sings tho, so I doubt it'll happen.

I'm kinda happy that Hololive is growing and Sora is still streaming despite having others that has surpassed her. She gets a healthy 3-4k loyal fanbase who tunes in to watch her do cute things as compared to the old guards. Been in the business for 4 years and still getting gigs like the horror game recently. Ai is somewhat irrelevant/unpopular now and the others is dead. I apologize, I worded it too harshly. I don't mean that they're dying. I meant that they need to keep going as in not graduating/becoming an indie even though they've been in niji for 3 years. It's the same situation as coco. What if one of them decides to graduate and become an Indie? They are able to retain some amount of fans after the migration but the company's rising momentum would be lost in the process. 2019 debuts is good, 2020 debuts is eh (?) and 2021 is stellar. Some of the livers are good on their own like Fuwa, Gwelu or Ibrahim but they're not on Kuzuha's level of attracting 20k people on a normal stream yet.

Terreria is only 6 mins short of 3 hrs, and had no after stream talk, whereas the Genshin stream is like 4 hrs of game content with 2 hrs of post-game talk. That 8 hrs cookie clicker is just a zatsudan/surprise totsumachi with a more active background.

If they can't make their own servers, then wouldn't it be fine if they visit community fan servers right?
