In the case of Japanese it's very important for a lot of reasons, first, literally every Japanese courses will stop using romaji as soon as you are getting in the real thing, second, in real life or to watch vtubers you also need to know how to read in some extents, even knowing kana is not enough in most cases.
Learning Japanese in romaji is also way harder than in kana and kanji, for example sometimes verb that ends in tsu like matsu will sometimes change their last syllable with a te or chi which makes no sense in romaji but actually does in kana.
And btw if you can't even learn kana there's no way you will be able to learn Japanese to the point where you can hold a convo well, it's literally one of the easiest part of Japanese so you better give up if just learning kana is too hard for you.
