Half of them getting the boot might be believable, if you're talking about the 9 non-golden boys and the 14 girls. That group has 23 people, and culling half of them means either 11 or 12 of them getting booted. I can see one or two of Ren, Ver, Doppio, Zali, or Vanta getting kicked so that the 10 or so girls they fire won't be able to file a sex discrimination lawsuit over the firing. And firing ten girls is also plausible, since their female lineup consists of Elira, Enna, Millie, Meloco, and ten others (and guess which ten would be discarded).
Firing "half" is a bit less believable if you include the golden boys, especially since there's an over 99.99% chance that none of them will be fired. Half of 31 would be either 15 or 16 people, which would mean either all of the girls and one or two guys (one or two of those five, or one of them plus Fulgur); or ten of the girls and five or six guys (those five guys, and maybe also Fulgur). Firing a third of all hands is believable, since it would effectively be firing half of the "lesser 23" as I described above; or the "lesser 22", if Kotoka leaves before the merger happens.
Among the non-golden boys, the ones least likely to get kicked are Aster, Hex, YQW, and Claude. This isn't to say that they won't get sacked, only that the other guys in their waves are more likely to get sacked.
