You have to ENUNCIATE and PROJECT your voice. No mumbling, be loud, and talk slower than normal.

Put a gimmick to your voice, don't just speak normally into a microphone.
I have a tad bit of a southern accent so I ham it up and sound like hank hill. I've gotten dozens of friends this way.
