Her mother became ever more vicious and unstable as time went on, and that eventually developed into actual schizophrenia. Her father then bailed on them since he didn't want to deal with all that and at some point moved to Japan and found himself a very young bride (only slightly older than his daughter) with which he had a son. Meanwhile Enna dealt with her mother who eventually stabilized trough medication.
Obviously her psyche was affected by this situation: in her head her mother is a psycho but she's okay now; her dad is the best man ever because despite everything she's a massive daddy's girl (I suppose because the alternative is that much worse) but he's also kind of a freak; her step-mother is a very nice woman but she's also her counterpart and "rival" for his affection; her step-brother is cute and she wants to care for him but he's also living proof of the previous point, plus he's getting all the love and nice things she never had as a child so she's jealous; and so on.
