it's pretty clear that the worship of anything other than God is viewed as idolatry and this 'worship' can even take the form of just idolizing/revering or chasing other things, not even just worshipping them in the 'praying to a statue of a god' sense
that's what Jesus meant when he said people had become lovers of money instead of God and was throwing people out of the temple that were using it to make money
if you have any kind of idols at all like celebrities or even characters you are commiting idolatry
you're supposed to abandon literally everything for God and only worship God every day
most religious people either just don't understand this or are just being half-hearted about their claimed beliefs and just coping
there's no way to theologically sqaure claiming to be religious while also having an oshi and watching something as sinful and worldly as Hololive or anime or whatever else, it's all just cope
