>>7620209There some dumb people in this thread. Kiara was on a short term (1 year) special youth visa that has no possibility to extend or to change to another visa. Because of Covid, the Japanese government extended visas automatically. Hers probably ended up with an extension until April 30 this year.
Mori has a long-term working visa as an instructor which are available for up to 5 years. Then once you're in, as long as you remain employed you can get a different job and you remain eligible.
They would now be eligible for long term visas as entertainers/musician visa category. They might not even require the cover corp sponsorship because they are making somewhere between $20,000 to $30,000 USD per month AFTER tax, youtube/cover cuts (how much depends on their membership/merch revenue which we don't really know). I think 25k USD a month is a decent estimate. The general minimum for getting a visa is 200,000 yen per month. Mori & Kiara make 10 times that much.
Kiara isn't coming back because she can't, it's because she doesn't want to come back. And right now she might not even be able to because of Covid. And if she does go back it might not be as a resident, it might be a short term period that involves her 3D debut, anniversaries etc.
Mori seems far more comfortable living in Japan long term, she might end up staying permanently, she'll probably qualify for the accelerated residency points (10 points for her age, 10 for her college degree, 40 points for making more than 10 million yen a year, if she can pass an N1 test that takes her over the 70 points required). A single 5 year visa extension is easily achievable and would likely take her to the point where she can become a permanent resident.
