>>76238626You have it backwards. There were separate Hololive and Holostars subs, r/Hololive got big enough that Cover took it over, and then once Cover took it over, they announced that it would be a general Holopro subreddit, meaning there was now a place to talk about all of Holopro, and just Holostars, but nowhere to talk about just the girls. This pissed off a lot of the no homo fans, which got way worse when the announcement of Vanguard was pretty poorly received. The mod (Cover has literally only assigned one person to handle the entire subreddit) locked the sub down completely to prevent people from shitting on their precious boiz, which made people even madder because the shutdown caused people to not be able to talk about Ame's birthday, which the mod didn't even bother to make a post for either. That was basically the turning point, where r/hololive realized that Cover really was, irrefutably, giving preferential treatment to Holostars at the expense of the girls, and it became much more openly accepted there to shit on Holostars. This is also around the time that people started mass reporting every post to do with Holostars, causing most of them to get automatically deleted, meaning that in the end, r/hololive took their sub back from Cover and made it into the basically girls-only subreddit it was always meant to be anyway.
