Question is what you want in a partner. Personally, you reap what you sow and if you don't hold yourself accountable you can't expect more from your partner. Ie - I expect my partner to take care of themselves and be pretty intelligent only because I lift 4-5 days a week and have an advanced degree. Investing in yourself lets you find someone who also does as well. (And somehow I ended up into a fucking hikkineet Fujo when I don't even watch anime...)
That being said, don't date someone who's only in it for the money. The last ex I dated for 7 years dropped me the moment there were industry layoffs. Relationships are nice but there's a lot of shit in the world to wade through so its better to be self sufficient first.
