Hurting Mel over Nijisanji actually hit her hard a bit later because they have been best friends for too long. And suddenly they were nothing and then just barely friends post-reconciliation. Not to mention, doing stuff for Kurosanji at best landed her a "laugh with us" moment or a Discord message from some NIJI staff stating that she did well or something.
It's like donating your toys as a kid, yeah, you are going to feel GREAT for doing something good for the cause but later the realization that you permanently lost something that you really valued is going to set in and you are going to regret it all. It's worse when it happens to you as an adult over actual adult matters because unlike when you are a kid, the consequences are years long or permanent. No wonder she fell in a self-digged menhera sink hole after betraying Mel, she realized that doing all the mandated Black Company stunts did nothing good for her in the long run, and worst yet, hurt her psyche bad enough to kind off soft-quit at her entertainment career. Not to mention, even if she really wasn't the sole reason of it happening, now EVERYONE believes she canned Mel. No matter where she goes, the label of the "girl who killed Mel" will stick to her forever. Just like how Elira permanently is seen as a shadow manager by everyone despite next to no evidence (besides Raziel's mention of Elira) about it existing in the public and everything else being nitpicks (that wouldn't surprise me if true) from streams, tweets and merch.
Kotoka is fucking done unless she does something like graduating and then collabing with Mel but I don't think that's going to happen. There's no slate to clean anymore, it's broken, no way back to how things were.
