>>77184433You might be correct that they've used it that way but that's because they're not using it correctly. Tracing is literally drawing over it. It's a technique that you can use for various purposes, but don't claim it's an original work. Referencing is also copying, and people have been called out for that too. But just look at the two images of the designs and compare them. They're significantly different to the point that it would take MORE work to trace or even draw directly from reference, and then change it. Instead, what the artist probably did was use multiple references, including Shylily's design as one of them.

>Drawing the lines over the existing linesThis is absolutely not what the artist did, and it's very clear. Some parts you could call copying, and others are obviously just referencing. But like I said, the artist probably used multiple references, and the parts that are "unique" are probably a mix of these references. Before you take that as a reason to hate them, that's pretty common for a new artist. If you look them up you can find their vgen and they're 19, so obviously they have a lot to learn. It's not like they're just out to copy someone and claim it as completely their own, they significantly remixed it, but it's still too similar for comfort. Now we're at the point where we're going to be nitpicking about the details and I suggest it's not worth it.
