What mRNA does is asks some cells to help your immune system learn to recognize some key indicators of the virus by making some proteins. For very technical reasons, beyond the scope of a 4chan post, this is more effective for Coronaviruses (as a category, not just COVID-19) than older, common vaccine methods that just inject inactivated (basically dead) viruses.
A metaphor would be like... let's say the virus is a criminal. You want your immune system cells to know what the criminal looks like. Most vaccines you've received in your life work by injecting mannequin lookalikes of the entire virus, so that the immune will recognize them later. But you don't need the entire body to recognize a criminal. Often, just their face on a "WANTED" poster is enough. So instead, what if you print a bunch of posters and give them to the immune system? The mRNA works by asking your body to print a bunch of these WANTED posters.
