like, you can mastadon / fediverse, and there's a number of like here adjacent fediverse instances that are good but that's just going back to the forums of old. it's only a handful of posters and it's only a handful of content, which you can burn through it in like minutes or worse the content just wont be interesting.
but mastadon / fediverse's big thing from there is that you can connect to other forums let's say and get their content too, but that doesnt really work in a way that makes sense. imagine you were on a discord server that was giving you every message from every discord channel all at the same time. even if it's servers you like this is an awful way to receive information. sure a for you / algorithm or whatever might suck but the idea here is to leisurely scroll through shit, not to be barfed on.
which, discord is probably honestly where it's at now but obviously doesn't really work as a like social media type thing. if you want memes, though, or porn or whatever then you're better off just getting stuff there. it's at least in a readable organized format and you can curate content by just not being on shitty servers. it's tricky can be tricky to find good servers though
which, like, back to social media: threads no. bluesky is actually not that bad, if you're a furry probably. pillowfort never took off. the problem with all of this is just content and users. twitter still has millions of users it still has millions of people posting stuff, which, fuck, man. if only they had banned porn or something. like people did leave tumblr. which hey they allow boobs now and it's pretty good for hololive content, actually
