>>78023242>You could say the same thing back in 1850.No you couldn't? The USA had huge amounts of net immigration, was industrialising at a very fast rate, had huge swathes of uncontested land and resources to settle to it's west and had nearly no opposition in its sphere of influence in the Americas.
China has none of that. They have no immigration, in fact their richest and most educated are leaving the country, they have capped in industrialisation, they have exhausted their natural resources, are dealing with massive pollution and environmental issues, and they are actively contested in their sphere of influence in the south and east by the single most powerful entity to ever exist in human history, the US, they are contested in the south west by India and they are contested in the North and West by Russia.
> I don't understand western experts saying that China will collapse anytime now because of their messy demographicsBecause it's too late.
>, instead a country will start to fix its problem the moment their birth rate starting to go static/negative.China's birth rate has been negative for multiple decades now from the one child policy.
>their birth rate was entering the negative territory and from then on they started to fix things up because less children means more investment for the future.South Korea by the 1980s was already a middle income country and their birth rate was 2.82.
China today is a middle income country with an official birth rate of 1.16 (most likely lower because you know how the CCP likes to fudge numbers)
China has to make up 40 years of economic growth to level with South Korea with less than half the birth rate, even worse when you consider that South Korea's birth rate in between 1960-1970 was between 6-4.5
China's birth between 2010-2020 was 1.69 - 1.19
South Korea did not have a demographic crunch looming over their head in 1980 when they were as rich as China is today. China has a demographic crunch looming over their heads that they cannot get out of unless they perform some fucking egregious human rights violations which would ultimately destabilise the entire nation.
