I dont want to watch EN only anymore... I just want to understand what Luna and Nene are saying... The reps are too slow... I keep forgetting things..
I don't even care about reading or speaking, I just want to understand what they are saying.

If you want actual advice, if you feel you understand an okay amount of Japanese already and aren't making fast enough progress, try jumping to native reading material. Particularly visual novels. Speeds up the progress like you wouldn't believe and you get to play some nice JP-only eroge too.

There are ways around it. If you use ITHVNR and Mecab it shows you the furigana for the kanji. That way all you need to do is look up the words you don't know. Speeds up the process exponentially. Ganbare.

I understand about 50% of what's being said during streams. I have mastered N5 and I know grade 12356 Kanji. I listen to Podcasts every night before going to bed. I have my twitter/youtube location set to Japan and almost everything on my phone/laptops are in japanese. Yes I will never be japanese, I know. But by immersing myself in the language using everyday things as a basis, I have found that my comprehension skills have reached their absolute limits. And while my Vocabulary is very limited, a quick look in the dictionary is all it takes to get me up to speed. Basically what I am saying is. Do Your Fucking Reps Nigger.

anon, you literally still haven't graduated from the basics. N3 level is when you can start saying that you "know Japanese" since by then you've learned most of the essential grammar and can navigate most literature with a dictionary

Was that the only course? Japanese at university here expected kana after the first semester. But japanese was only about 15%, then it went 100% jap the next three semesters before an exchange year in Japan.

Japanese 101 taught kana first 2 weeks then like half of Genki 1. After 4 semesters we finished Genki 2 and then there was one final class I didn't take because by that time I was way ahead from reading VNs.
It's in the US so it wasn't even a very demanding course. I'm not even sure most people who took the 5 semesters of classes were be able to pass N3. Taught in probably half and half EN/JP.
