I've listened to the new song and I can honestly say it's not very unique.
To give you an example, it sounded like an anime OP song that you might skip once you hear it, and I didn't really feel it.
Compared to "Ahoy!! Warera Houshou Kaizokudan", the new song is very lacking in personality and didn't feel like "Houshou Marine". But I'm not saying it's bad to try different directions.
Because even the very popular Hikaru Utada tried many different styles in her early days, and eventually arrived at her own unique voice and style.
I know she always try her best in whatever she does.
But it's a thorny road to the Budokan stage. She has to overcome these challenges.
I pray that someday she will find a voice and style that suits her.
