A Canadian born person of Korean ethnicity/heritage is not the same thing as an ethnically Korean person from the nation of Korea. Ethnicity and Nationality TOGETHER both play a big part of East Asian Identity. A Korean in Canada is so far removed from the culture/history and baggage of South Korea itself. Ina is just another Western foreigner who they dont understand to them. Kanade is an actual South Korean, who only recently moved from Korea to Japan. Aside from the fucked up history between the two countries, Koreans within Japan have their own complicated history.

No joke you can actually see the difference in how jp members treat kanade compared to other branches, which in typical jp fashion is pretty subtle. I remember a minecraft moment where hajime and ao were telling kanade to do the introductions first cause she "was the stupidest one there" and kept up the bit till ao suddenly shifted gears and joked that there were all actually geniuses. Or the time suisei collabed her and started imitating kanade, stating that she "starts to copy the speech pattern of people she's around" only to say later on that she had "become an idiot."
