>>78791182Since people already explained that it's the autistic stgr fanbase and not Niji's own fanbase pulling this, let me explain how stgr itself works. I'm very biased against it since it's become a really big piece of content for my oshi and I despise it, but I also think most people who are strictly vtuber fans wouldn't click with the environment at all. I know for a fact that Kanae has already lost a lot of his regular fans over it, even people who have been following him for many years.
The server is open for 12 hours a day 6 days of the week (used to be every day without breaks in the past), and everyone has to play "in character" over the whole duration, this also means using autistic terminology (instead of logging in they say waking up) and building relationships from 0, even with the people they already know. Maybe this is how it's like in general for RP server, but I wouldn't know or care, I just know it's super enforced and taken too seriously (just like this nijigta current situation). I believe the requirement for joining the server is having 10k followers on a streaming platform and 2 years of streaming experience, so literal nobodies can get into it. Thanks to the RP layer, everyone is put on the same level, which is a HUGE opportunity for leeching and clout chasing. "It's just role play!" is an excuse used whenever someone behaves inappropriately, and there is a lot of this because you aren't punished for doing anything risky and cancellable even if the other party is a big name. And it's essentially endless slop content, it goes on forever, taking up all of the streamer's time and taking over their other content for months and months on end. There's also very little chat interaction, so mixed with the RP it puts more distance between the streamer and fans.
And of course, the overly toxic community. For them, the RP is the only thing that matters, not the streamer. They feel entitled to having all these streamers sit on this shitty server all day and then cry when they don't log in for a while. But they won't ever bother watching the streamer do anything else, ever. By the way, some of them are the opposite extreme of unicorns - they see a guy and a girl interact on the server once and they completely unironically start begging not for more interactions, but for them to actually do "romance role play".
All this leads to alienating the core fanbase if you're a vtuber because most vtuber fans won't like at least one of these things. At this point I'm hoping this just blows up more so management can step in and ban stgr for good. It's sad to watch my oshi lose more and more of his actual fans just so that he can pull 20k stgr streams when most of those people are just toxic tourists.
