>>79416045I'm on chapter 54ish but I would say that this series is special; with the caveat that I'm talking about your typical shonen style stories. If this was running in WSJ right now it would be huge.
Also, "fun" is definitely the easiest way to put it. To me the best part of this series is the characters. While the world and style are in the camp of cool, the major cast all feels well rounded. It's very refreshing for a series in this demographic to have so much care put into it.
>>79416156It's not actually an apocalypse, but Post Apocalyptic is definitely a good way to think about the visual style. The story itself is closer to a diesel punk revenge story with a ton of violence, some gritty realism, and a little bit of mystery/intrigue going on.
In some ways it reminds me of the Gunnm/Battle Angel Alita or Akira manga. Not the anime for those but the manga themselves. Both of them have more of a cyberpunk mixed with western (e.g. cowboy) look, so the visuals are not the same. It's the story and structure that really give off the same vibe.
Either way, I've read about 5 volumes and they're all really good. I just pick up one volume at a time to read and come back a bit later for more. There's currently 100ish chapters and I've read about half of that. I'm also buying the official English releases as they come out. I heartily recommend the series.
