Depends on the game, if it's my forte, which is fighting games, it's literally impossible to let someone win without looking like you're throwing against a horrible player. So I just will beat them at a slower pace in hopes they can get a grasp of why they are losing..

My family is just a bunch of salty losers so as I'm the only one who knows how to play video games, if I don't throw the other person gets frustrated and doesn't want to play anymore. My mom isn't too bad but I don't get to play games with her much.
My little sister is actually pretty good at speedrunners, she can beat me fairly often and even when I win it's not by much

As a moderately skilled fighting game player I just switch to a character I don't know and try to do complex combos and moves, that way it looks (and it is actually because) like I'm losing because I'm trying to style too hard and flubbing it.
It doubles because it makes it look like they're taking advantage of my retardation.

I actually used to do this to my sister all the time when she was like 5 and now i do it to my niece.
she wants to play but doesn't understand how vidya works so she just has fun "playing" alongside me.

Its cute but she gets bored quickly so I'll just tickle her.

this is how I handle this kind of shit when no ones having fun by me dominating. I go for the flashiest, most risky moves, strategies, etc. It's fun for me because it gives me a chance to try shit out that's a little crazy and fun for others because I'm gonna fuck up half the time and get to make me look stupid as they take advantage of my elaborate failure easily. I'm sure there are games where this kind of gameplay doesn't work, but for everything I do if you don't overdo it and make the other player feel like you're not trying at all, it's fun for everyone.

No, cause thats just being disrespectful and most people will pick up that your sandbagging immediately. You should always try, just change up what you are doing. Playing people that are significantly worse then you can be a really useful thing. It lets you comfortably go for the difficult shit and and other things you need practice on in a real match. Going for things you dont have fully learned means you fuck up more so its also more fair for them. Sometimes playing someone you can beat the brakes off of can be better practice then playing someone around your skill level that you have to play safely to stay even with. Need all types of opponents to improve.

Anyone who gets mad because you let them win is 100% justified. Letting someone win and doing harder less consistent shit to make it more fair arent the same thing. Also yeah anything head to head versus is gonna make people mad, nobody like losing. If the person your with gets super mad over losing you probably should just play something co-op or random af like mario party.
