While Ame had a better production quality and some of the scripted content was nice, she's simply just a significantly worse host than Coco was. AsaCoco was special because it was batshit crazy at times, parodying japanese news shows to the extreme and tearing into everyone, including Coco herself. Unless Ame scripts the fuck out of it and grows as an entertainer, Ame in the AM will forever be a reddit-tier show with muh wholesomeness and her playing it strictly straight. Just for example, the AsaCoco commercials. Not only it was funny, it also tied into the cocaine induced fever theme of the whole show. Here, the Watson Concoction bit was just a "haha, you remember the AsaCoco commercials? Now laugh" segment, nothing more.
This is all too similar to her other creative ideas: all botched during the execution. Nature review? A great idea, but zero curveballs over three episodes. Watoto? Instead of the crazy not!Alex Jones everyone was hoping for, we've got a holds up spork-tier caveman. Fish tank? Let's create a podcast and not prepare shit to talk about during it.
The way I see it, Ame is the Batman of vtubers: has no out of ordinary qualities as an entertainer, but she can make up for it with prepwork. The question is how long can she hold up doing this because this takes way more effort and learning how to play up her character would be way more efficient in the long term.
