The thing with chess at his level is that if you only play one opening you get to learn which lines are likely to fuck you over and which lines tend to win. Other players who study multiple openings actually need to calculate and will probably make mistakes which screw them up against you.
Of course he will hit a wall if he starts joining OTB tournaments where everyone knows who he is, because people will go 'oh, that guy, he only plays one way' and devote some time to studying it to get a free win.
