even so, it's a real fucking idiotic thing to assert people can just voluntarily choose to not join hololive, like if only they had the right attitude they'd all be in already. they choose to let someone in, you don't choose to go to them. out of thousands of apps for like 0-5ish slots per year, you have one in several hundred odds of getting in. probably at least 1 in 600, iirc rushia (of all people) mentioned holoEN got like 3k apps or something a few years back. I didn't even think there were that many EN vtubers in existence. which goes to show that in reality, in secret, basically fucking EVERYONE applies for hololive and many who aren't even vtubers must be doing it too. you don't just get in if you feel like it otherwise everyone would be in.
