They launch something basically the same as what they already sell, but give it new branding, a new name, even create a new branch of their own company just to sell it. It creates a feeling of newness, exclusivity, innovation, and "cutting edge" that REALLY sells in the JP market. It was a marketing stunt intended to carve more space into a saturated JP market
