Going back to the actor, his wife is known to have gained quite a bit of weight while married to him and he is said to only look happier the fatter she gets. Naturally, certain people decided to go with the joke that he's intentionally fattening up his wife. The line "a world without whales, it's too terrible to imagine" (something he once said) is sometimes used as a part of the joke.
So the Architect is now this devious mastermind who is working behind the scenes to create more fatties.
