Two years ago I would have argued "they know they will fail, so they won't even try", but now I think it goes both ways. There's been some success with their particular model (and some failures), but the further they go down that path, the more it diverges from the larger, conventional agencies. The more it diverges, the more effort it would require to even begin to try a Cover/Anycolor model. Two years ago, even having just grabbed Kson, the "they won't try because they can't" versus "they shouldn't try because they can do something else" was a distinction without a difference. Maybe even sour grapes.
But now it seems like they have found the "something else".
So VShojo will succeed or fail for different reasons, on different terms, than the large, conventional agencies.
I think VAllure is similar to VShojo, in that they will succeed of fail in a unique niche with unique standards.
On the other hand, I know just a little about Phase Connect's model, but they are closer to following the Cover/Anycolor approach. Setting aside the coffee jokes and "unhinged sad girls" or whatever, from a pure business model perspective they seem pretty conventional in operations and talent management.
Other corpos, I haven't watched or read enough about their ops to have an informed opinion, but more consumer choice is ultimately good.
For fans who rabidly prefer one style over another, it keeps them from wasting their time in a place that isn't aimed at them to begin with.
